I am busily plugging away on a new version of the mdp forum with frontpage artist portal, should be a cool little engine when i get her revved up.
Check Out MDP
MDP (musicdonkeyproject originally) has been around for many years, and was started by a few cool cats: applejux, now running a wicked
netlabel (op3n), sampler, now running around, and Hypno, possibly dead. A few core members stuck around but slowly the site slipped into netapathy. Well, I am trying once again to kick life into this place, because it was – and is – too cool to let die.
It began as a site for dj’s to share their mixes and original productions. Thoughts of a label were tossed about like salad. Then, it slowed to a crawl, its sister site musicdonkey, which brought the traffic, dodo’d and well, it became a crypt.
So, my concept with it is such: expand to all forms of art and build it on the spirit of the O.G. No pretense, no glam, no “check the new bass heavy drop, it will mangle dancefloors from here to nigeria”, just a place for regular folk to share their passion for creating art.
Ultimately it is for people who are hobbyists, dayjobbers with an evening addiction to writing dubstep, snapping photos, spinning wax etc. It’s for people who aren’t shooting to be the next big star, or get their name on a fucking billboard. It’s a celebration of art with the monetary value castrated, just a place to share and chill on the whole entertainment industry crapwagon as it goes bumbling by, a million neon lights flashing to the tortured sounds of overcocained and undernourished beverly hills soul vacuums absorbing all light in their vicinity.
So screw all that and check the site. Maybe you can help out, support the locals, submit your passion. No stress about fitting in or getting dissed, this is NOT some elitist tech forum, it’s just an easy going art community were everyone is Pope!
