Nine Inch Nails-Ghosts I-IV (24bit/96 kHz Flac) nzb + torrent (New Newsgroup Upload 02/2010)
In the spirit of sharing my love for high quality audio, I took the liberty of ripping the high resolution audio from my blu-ray of ghosts and whipping up a flac for you all.

I ripped the 24 bit 96 kHz wav from the main m2ts file and split into tracks in audition. Then I compressed with flac 1.2.1. The files were tagged with both foobar and tag and rename, T&R so i could embed each of the unique blu ray slideshow images to the corresponding tracks. You will find full 1080p jpegs of the images from the blu ray slideshow in the nzb/torrent. The neat thing about the slideshow is that the images are not the same as the book art, but similar. They appear to be extensions of the album art.
For comparison, the left side is the book art and the right column is the same tracks image from the slideshow:

Would the torrent file happen to be up anywhere other than Demonoid? I don’t have an account there, so I can’t download it :(
Just downloaded the slideshow images; great to have those in 1920×1080, which is better than any other source, and renders them usable as wallpapers :)

ok, well i cant find any of the files on the astraweb server after loading a crap-ton of hearers that made thunderbird cry, maybe they will get moved over in a couple days, otherwise i guess i should try a giganews trail and hope everything works. also why arent you a member of newzbin anymore? i looked into the old nzb to see where it came from =p and maybe im looking in the wrong group, which one did you post to?

woot! thanks, i wondered why newzbin was changing file sizes every time i refreshed, now i know lol, and happy belated bday. imo in 2 channel ghosts is like a relaxation trip, just puts me in a good mood, but i think 5.1 will sound even more amazing. I cant thank you enough, or reznor for this piece of work.

Wait, holy crap! please correct me if im wrong, but being under a CC license, its completely legal to share all 4 albums. I knew the first one was free, but did a little googling and think all 4 are.

Yes it is, I actually dont do illegal shit on this server, its my own box i have other sites on so I take care with it. And you are correct, the dvd disc is multis for all the tracks, and includes two tracks that arent in the regular release, ghosts 37 and 38. These 24/96 are worth getting, they sound superb. remember to playback with latest flac, they were encoded with 1.2.1 so older codec to playback can have issues.

lol, im not sure what codec foobar2k is rolling with, but the general playback issues probably were the problem vlc suffered back in .8x~.9x revisions, you always had volume and peaking issues, although foobar has not given me trouble with normal flac, i haven’t tried anything this high quality. just fyi, if you haven’t heard of foobar2000, most likely you have, its the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I only use the foob. :) I have a dope skin done into it, it also auto grabs lyrics for playing tracks and scrolls them with the music by grabbing timing data when available. it auto grabs artist images and makes the background the image of the currently playing artist. oh and I can manage my ipod touch with it. begone with ye itunes! and then theres the thousand tech benefits, discogs connect, codecs, etc etc. screenshot of my build:
Ya, I mentioned the codec thing because the first time around some people had issues, turned out to be they had an older flac decoding. Enjoy the files!

Out of celebration for a new found love of lossless audio I splurged and bought some Sennheiser HD 555’s for ~100$ on amazon. I got tired of my cx300b’s, they hurt my head after awhile and i have been wanting an excuse to get some quality headphones. Just another reason to love foobar, there is a dts decoder, because creative is gay and i have to have a serial to activate the software for my audigy 2 zs plat and im too lazy to get one lol. I got it secondhand as a freebie :) yay for free hardware. man these things are sweet, i would recommend a pair

Heh, very fine taste in headphones! I am rocking the Senny HD 650’s glorious sound! ;) Got them patched through a MOTU ultralight as I do audio production on this rig as well. Speakers also include Mackie HR Studio Monitors. Good sound is one of the main drugs for me. :)

mmmm, those are some sweet headphones, maybe I will look into something better later on. That MOTU box is pretty nice, but I don’t have an excuse to look for something like that. I barely make much use of the Breakout box for my audigy, although it does come in handy and it definitely beats the joke of a one they offer for the fatality series, I think it fits in a floppy bay where as this one fills up a cd slot. I enjoy playing with audio software and have done some simple cuts and things for people and the software I have played around with and found to be a great combination is Nuendo, Melodyne, and Fruity Loops. Back to the headphones, I can actually fall asleep in my chair with them, that’s how much i enjoy them. I can also say that people who say you cant tell the difference between 192+ bitrate havent had a good pair of headphones, lol. Plus they make you really hate CBR music.
