Thanks paul, of course Ill be late, but I put around 30 hours in this weekend ina mad rush. The gallery/prfile is almost dialed. you'll be abe to fully create your own page/galleries with ease. Control whether others can see or not etc. Finally i have the skill to write what i wanted. Took some effort. Wink

Just as an update, I've made massive headway. The all new gallery system is at about 60 percent complete. Today was spent working on the audio handling engine. Got a show next week in technical, but maybe I can work on mdp in the booth.  Cheesy

Dancin Up you are not alone. The Second Coming was also put on a back burner.

As for me -- I was never late.  Afro

Ok so i did quite a bit of work, but then sat back. cause i am considering the future and a total reboot. forums are dying, this new mode of open networking with real time activity streams is taking off... What do you guys think of this:

http://buddypress.org/

With some customization and effort i could convert mdp into a tiny underground social network (without the fluff or ANY corporate interest). It would give us a more realtime feel but i would code in all the media features for audio, images and video. So what would happen is i would make a facebook page, interlock the systems with the big social platforms, but create the hub for hosting your files here. This way you dont grant facebook (or any of the large corporate entities that offer 'free" hosting) as much power by using their hosting services, but if you choose, you can spread your shit in their networks as well. you could also have your own blog, you basically will have  a full custom platform for media hosting and interaction with other underground and hobby artists. Even if its just us 5.

Or should i just stick with the forum?

That sounds good. I do enjoy the interaction that's going on here. I know it's only a few members that participate but it has a close family like feel. Would we be still able to interact this way? I like the idea of not actually having stuff hosted by FB and such.
Thanks bro, you have put so much into this forum. I really appreciate it!

The engine has a forum... But like i was attempting to do here, it features individual profile pages that act as a full aggregate of your content, a live activity stream, the ability to create your own blog at your own sub url if you want, the ability to create your own groups with your friends in the system if you want.

Obviously for 4 semi active members this all seems mildly goofy, but whatever, lets drive a bentley hans solo. Smiley But, I always used mdp to propel my web technologies, and this is the next thing i must study. i have recently become a wordpress jedi, and the next thing i need to do to further my code skills is to understand how to build social networks. So it is once again: give to mdp whether it uses it or not so that i learn new tech I can apply to furthering my skill-set. I thing it would be quite dope. The system is just reaching a phase that it will become a true multi user website, like multiple websites at subdomains also connected in a hub but only if desired so, all is user controlled. My dream is that it will aggregate creative commons media on the web, encourage art interaction and group art projects and offer free media hosting with no evil fine print, no ads, no corp influence.

It would be fun to be a part of its development as i dive into the code. Believe it or not i actually almost completed the work for mdp, but I knew i also wanted to build something new.

Taking any suggestions for a new name and moving the site to a new url, mdp is dead and i dont want the site associated with my online name.  Tongue

Aiwazz, you are at the reins/helm of this beast, and although I am slightly saddened to see the inevitable halt of the forum, I am also, partly responsible.
I am not a posting fanatic, although I also consider myself lucky to be a part of this community and it's little corner on the web.
I guess its true, as technology changes so will the way people share/interact online. Probably best to adapt with the flow of things, you have a more defined (or at least technical) idea of where things are headed more so than myself I feel.
The buddypress looks pretty sweet, and I'm sure you would mod it out real sexy like.  Wink

Basically what I'm thinking is: If this project helps you learn new skills for design/coding; it cant be all bad really.
Plus, you never know, sometimes dreams grow...
Also though, I think that if it is something that detracts from your life, rather than adding to it; as in measure of time/money/focus/energy, it cant be too harmfull to reflect on, maybe git minimal on it...

Mainly you should decide what YOU want to do. Im on board even if there is no ship!!
Ima be here an there, to an fro....

on a side note I'm dreaming of planning to harass you with some audio this fall. Got some great ideas brewing, and a few new jams..... been off the psytrance tip... getting into some deeep dub musics... dub techno, reggae, some dubstep... minimal, techno kinda vibe...
I know you are so so busy but maybe.... just maybe we will colab again....
I listen to the mixes you did with that material I sent you a couple years back every now and again... it blows my mind with goodness!  Break It
